Last weekend, we made a trip up to a hot spring called Ulu Legong Hot Springs. Ulu Legong is about 30km drive from the North-East of Baling. Baling town lies to the south east of Kedah State. The journey took us around 1 1/2 hours from Penang. We left at around 11.30pm and reached there just before 1 am. At first I was abit worried why we were going so late. But the friends which we followed had been here before and they said that everyone comes late at night. So fine then, since there were a number of guys around, I followed along.
When we reached, the place was actually a recreation park. We had to pay for the entrance fee which was RM 3 for adults. The place is actually opened 24 hours. Now, have you ever heard of a recreation park most visited after midnight??? Well this is just the place. There were tons and tons of people here hanging around the pool, swimming, camping and just lepaking around. No wonder the friends kept telling us both not to worry as there's alot of people late at night.
There were 5 pools here. 3 main pools where everyone hanged around, 1 baby pool and 1 private pool for those ladies who want to have privacy. The 3 pools where everyone hanged around, the water temperature was different. The 1st pool right at the bottom was the coolest-meaning water was warm like, followed by the 2nd pool which got hotter and the 3rd pool which no one could actually swim in. Water there was damn hot. I tried dipping my hand in and it was freaking hot. I think you would probably burn your skin if you swam in here for like half a minute.
The 3rd pool
I tried to take nice shots of the place but because of the steam everywhere the pictures all came out 'steamy'. We found a place next to the second pool and slowly made our way in the water. Since the water was hot, we couldn't exactly jump in, so everyone dipped their toes in slowly till the water reached thigh length. It took us about 10 minutes to achieve this!!!!

Ed in the water covered by the steam
Since it was that time of the month for me, I couldn't go in further. Ed manage to get his whole body in the water slowly, and he lepaked at one corner for a while sweating away from his neck up. But he couldn't stay in for long as his head started to pound and came up with a slight headache. I guess the hot water gave his blood vessels a rush. But the cool thing is that when the guys came out of the water, there was actually steam coming out from their skin. Looked as if they all had their chi coming out from their body...hahahhaha.
So anyways, it was a new experience for us both. Was our first time in a hot spring place. Perhaps we may be back one night again, not during the school holidays time as there were a bit too many people around.
Oh before I forget, a lot of bugs were killed throughout our journey here. It was pretty bad, at some areas the amount of bugs crashing to the windscreen sounded like as if it was drizzling outside. Perhaps in the bugs life, they had some sacrificing rituals going on...hahahaha
