Alfred Birthday Makan

The Birthday Guy
Cindy's Sis & The Cousin

Ian & Alf

Actually, I was supposed to blog about Alf Birthday Makan like weeks ago. But I keep on forgetting.

Nothing much. Very simple makan as he doesn’t really fancy all those glittering, hip and cool party. There was like pizza (which was a lot), Ayam Mas, And more food which can served an army.

Who where there for the makan :
Me (Cher can’t go as she has wedding dinner to attend)
Ian Eow
Cindy (Alf GF)
Cindy’s Bro & The GF
Cindy’s Sis & The Cousin

Charles, Paul & James cant make it as they have something to do for that day, Top over slept (haiyo..), Debra & Michelle also cant make it as they have their own plan.

King Kong

One word about this movie...it was depressing and sad to see King Kong die.
He was just a scared, lonely King Kong who just wanted Ann's company as he was living a lonely life back in his island.

Movie was good. Graphics were good. Certain parts really got you jumping off your seats and certain parts really got your goosebumbs up......this was the part when those huge Centipedes were crawling on Ann and when the guys fell into the valley. Those huge insect creatures where really......eeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Actually it was a smart move to change the movie abit and add in the dinosaurs and huge insect creatures. If not it would have just been any ordinary King Kong movie as the old one. The fight with King Kong and the dinosaur was good...but only thing...it was surprisingly that the girl didn't break her spine or got squashed while she was in King Kongs hands.

So basically the movie is still a thumbs up for us. But be sure to have some icre cream stocked up at home to feed your depression.

The Cronicles of Narnia

Yes finally the long anticipated movie has finally caught our eyes!!!!
Sat the both of us plus my dad and grandmother and a German friend made our way to GSC to catch the movie. The cinema was full. The movie was 2 hours long.

How was the movie? Movie was good but I'm not fully satisfied with the show as I wanted it to be longer plus the ending was a bit unsolved. Why, you see the ending all four of them stepped back into the wardrobe. They came out from the wardrobe all young and in the same day as they were before they stepped in. Then at the last part Lucy alone tried to step back into the wardrobe to reenter Narnia and the Professor tells her that she can only find what she's looking for when she's not looking for it...meaning she can only step into Narnia when she has no intention of??? Abit blur here....so does that mean, Narnia now has four missing king and queen since they stepped back to their ordinary world? Do all four of them realise the adventure they had and the commitment they have back in Narnia? How come the gateway to Narnia is in the wardrobe? Why was this gateway evr created?

A friend of mine was saying that this Narnia movie combined two books into one. The first book talks about how the wardrobe was made. It seems that last time the children's dad was the one who entered into Narnia through a tree. Then the tree was cut and made into a wardrobe. But I have no idea what happened to the fater plus how does the Professor know about Narnia...ggrrhhh....questions question..anyone able to answer for me....???

But I liked the movie....Really laughed at the part where when Edmund was riding the horse..he said "Horsey faster" and the horse replied him, "My name is Phillip"...that was hillarous!
Thumbs up for this movie!

Chepanzee? Chimpanzee? Pancake?

A new restaurant in Gurney Plaza. It's just next to Breeks called Chepanzee.

Last Sat after my work, me and boo made our way to Gurney Plaza to continue our Christmas shopping. The night before we noticed the new restaurant..so we decided to try it on Sat. The restaurant is still under the same owner of the previous shop which sold japanese cheese cake.
What's on the menu...well one unique thing is that they have savoury pancakes. Usually we have pancakes with ice cream, jam etc. But this place sells pancakes served together with meat. It's not that new to our taste as there's another shop along Gurney Drive called Creeps that sells savoury pancakes too.

Well back to what we ordered, I had the Frankfurt sausages wrapped pancake and Boo had the Roast Chicken Pancake.

At first we were both sceptical whether the serving would be enough to fill our stomach. But good thing, when served the portion was pretty filling. For my dish..they gave three sausages. Garnished with Mash Potato and Salad. The Sausages tasted like Ayamas Black Pepper sausages. But combination with the pancake was nice topped with some mayo. The Mash Potato on the other hand was excellent. Tasted just the same as the mash potato at Sunshine Square Food court. It was topped with Black Pepper gravy which was very peppery.
Thumbs up for that.

Boo on the other hand, his pancake was as good also. He had three chicken ham slices with a layer of cheese inside the wrapped pancake. He loved it...but halfway through he got Gelak of it..and I got half of his Mash Potato..yahoooo....

Currently they have a promotion going on where you can get free coffee when you order the pancake and pizza meals. Workers there are pretty friendly too. As Boo was taking pictures of the food (of course we asked permission) one of the guys had that worried look on his face. He probably thought we were some food critic people. But funny thing halfway through our meal he came up to us and asked "so how's the food?"

Next trip we shall try their desert pancakes. Prices there are quite resonable.

So it's a must try everyone....

Fried Chicken..read all about it..

This is a must try at Taman Sri Nibong. Every Tuesday he starts selling at around 4pm. This is one of my favourite and as for Cher she liked the Chicken Neck. The chicken is nice and crispy, marinated well with their secret powder. Plus the chicken is still juicy when you bite it. Wonderfull....but do take care as it's fattening especially eating the crispy fried skins and the chicken butts.

At around 6 the crowd starts to come. At this time you have to wait for around 10 mins for your order if your lucky. But if you missed him on Tuesday you can find him on Wednesday along Batu Lanchang road the same time.

Yummy food from Starview....

Last Sun, you can say it was an eat all day DAY. It was my Ahma's birthday (real ahma not dugong ahma). My uncle from KL came down with his family also to celebrate with my ahma.

Why do I say eat all day??? Let's start....for lunch we made reservations to eat at Starview along Burmah Road. Food was good. Place was so packed and noisy. My poor mum had to put her ear plugs on. We ordered rice and chinese dishes. See what we ordered....

Chicken Marmite...that was uniquely good. Fish Fillet with a touch of curry flavour, Pai Kut which was the best ever I've eaten (very tender and juicy marinated well with the spices), Prawn Salad (restaurants specialty served chilled), Mixed Vegetable and Taufu which is not in the picture as it came in late.
As for desert, we were all wanting to have the old fashion chinese dessert...Flat pancake with peanut soup....but the restaurant only had the flat pancake..so we settled for it. Pastry was good. But it was a lil bit on a sweet side. For those who don't know what's this....it's a pancake (flat
pastry) filled with Lotus paste.

After lunch we were all so full. But we still had more goodies coming our way. On the way back to ahma's house I bought some Popiah Chee and Cucuk udang which you dip it in Laksa Kuah...indian man who sells just behind Giant supermarket.

When we went back to Ahma's house....it was the blowing cake ceremony. Uncle brought back a Christmas pudding cake from US. We lit a candle and sang Happy Birthday to my Ahma. The pudding was served with some whip cream....taste, Marvelous....it wasn't so sweet, had a kick of liquor together topped with the cream....ooohhhhh what a waste to my diet!!!! This Christmas Pudding is only served during Christmas time. It's actually more of a rich fruit cake soaked with some Liquor. You can't eat much as it can get very "gelaking".

After the cake we headed back home for a short nap. In the evening got ready and left the house as it was time to eat again....Where did we go?? Well up to Batu Feringghi. Uncle wanted some nice atmosphere place and some seafood.
So he suggested Eden Seafood Village...we all walked in looked at the fishes...looked at the menu and walked out. It was so expensive....!!!!!

So we hopped next door to sail around the island while eating...hahaha the Ship it was. Surprisingly the place was packed.

For appetisers my uncle ordered one dozen of Escargots....but I didn't dare try it for the second time. But I did order an Onion Soup which was tasteless and starcy, never again!

As our main meal Boo, ordered his all time favourite Chicken Maryland, while I ordered the Grilled Black Cod. It was good but got filled up fast. The rest, my uncle and dad ordered a steak, my mum had her Beef Straganoff and my ahma had the same as me together with my aunt. But before I miss this out....we had a baked LOBSTER too for everyone to share. It was good. But the only sad thing is that we saw the live lobster just before it was sent to the kitchen. What a pity...anyways back to the Lobster..it was cooked the traditional way with cheese and what-nots. I being greedy, when everyone had their share I took the whole lobster and started to clean up all the areas looking for some extra hidden flesh. Don't be surprised, I manage to get a table spoon of meat!

While eating my uncle quietly told the waiter that we are celebrating my ahma's birthday..so they cooked up something special for the birthday lady....they gave us a birthday cake...sang together with us summore. But the cake was very sweet and just any ordinary sponge butter cake with cream.

But hey it was the thought that counts.
After dinner, it was already 10.30 plus..so we all headed back home. The day was good. And what more....my Boo was with me all the while with my family...I think he has bonded with my uncle...as they were non stop talking about palm tops, camera, hp and all that tacky stuffs. :)

Saturday Outing

My weekend was busy. Very busy until I don’t even have the spare time 2 sleep :o). For a start, went out breakfast with Ian and James. Breakfast was good. We had, Yong Tau Foo, Char Kueh Teow, 2 WanTan Mee, and Hokkien Mee. And just imagine, that’s only for 3 person. Hahaha..

After the early breakfast :
- Went to HSBC to 2 get my new ATM card.
- Fetch Cheryl from Plexus.
- Went 2 AAM 2 renew my AAM card.
- Went 2 Prangin Mall 2 xmas pressie.
- Bought a new camera. Yes, a new SANYO 5.0 MP. Ask Aaron since his the camera specialist. As per him, for the price I’m paying and the specs I’m getting, it’s really a good bargain.
- Lunch.

After all the crazy thing in 1 day, went back home and zzZzZzZzz. But that didn’t stop. Went 2 church and after mass, we went 2 Gurney for pressie hunting again.

But before Gurney, we went 2 Penang Sport Club where we had dinner with Cher’s parents. Food was not bad. I love it.

After the makan, we meet up with Aaron and Becky at Coffee Bean. Chat until 11:20pm when it’s time for our movie.

Aeon Flux was damn cool. I don’t care what people say about the movie. The thing is, you have 2 understand the movie than only you can really appreciate the story.

After movie, we were thinking 2 have a very late night supper. There’s this makan place at Air Itam, near the Kek Lok Si Temple. The shop only start at 1am. They sell Duck Rice. Thanks 2 Aaron and Becky, we wanted 2 try it out. Mana tau, we only left few $$. But no worries, next Saturday is a must 2 go there and try it out.

My day out

Cheryl & Dirk

It was quite a sometimes I didn’t hang out with the ANZ DHSS team. After so long I finally manage 2 drag my ass out.

Went 2 Island Plaza at Coffee Bean for a drink and some cakes. Well, wanted 2 get the cheese cake, but since I have dinner appointment, so no choice but 2 skip.

Nothing much, just the normal all guys hang out. Talk about cars and chicks. Well, when comes 2 cars talk, this people they are just way 2 great. Well, sharing experience is good. At least, you know something and understand the car more better.

We all left around 7:30pm and as for me, I was there until 7:50pm. Was waiting for Cheryl 2 fetch me.

Went 2 fetch up a friend (Simon Buddy, Dirk). I guess some of you might know him. His the German guy. We usually have this dinner like once a month with him. At least just 2 know what is he up 2 know days, and so on.

Dinner was good. We had deep fried chicken (Thai style), 2 types of vegetables, heko (not sure if this is the correct spelling) fried with dried chilies, and deep fried pork ribs. Yummyyyyy.. And where else, we went 2 my all time favourite makan spot, Under The Tree near Penang Jetty.

Thanks Boo

Here’s to my Boo,

Thanks so much for my surprise presents.

Yes I really got a shock when Boo showed me the HP box…I was thinking huh phone??? Didn’t you just buy me one a few months back??? Hahahahaha…..surprise surprise. How’s the hp…it’s great….still learning the features though. But it’s good.

PresentS……realize the S? Yes as an add on Boo also bought me a wallet from Bonia….aaaaaaahhhhh two presents in just two days….phew that’s really exciting.

So here I have it…a new hp and a new wallet for Christmas!!!!! Yahoooooooooo

Boo, Love ya too.

Laid Back Weekend

This weekend was rather a laid back weekend. Sat went to work at 7 am and finished at 11 am. Fetched Boo and we headed over to CRC for lunch. Boo was craving bad for his Roti Ayam…yeap it’s two slices of bread stuffed with minced chicken and some spices blah blah. Then they fry it and it’s served with Worcheshire Sauce (Lee & Perrins). I on the hand had my Mee Sua Tau with lotsa vinegar.
After lunch we headed to Metrojaya. I was in the mood to shop and look out for Christmas Presents. But I ended up only buying myself a pair of lovely beige pants worth RM 50 after discount. Boo on the other hand…did more shopping than I did. He bought himself two shirts, undies and a tie. Christmas present…..NIL. I think Prangin mall would be a better place to shop for presents as you can find a lot of stuffs there. Well I guess next week I shall be there.

Today in Chruch, I tried this Java Sausages made by an Indonesian lady. It was pretty unique for me. It’s flavoured minced chicken wrapped with egg and served with the Thai chilli sauce. Pretty ok. Had a very strong after taste though cos of the spices.

After choir practice made my way to Dallat school. Stopped by Pulau Tikus to get some goodies for Boo to eat. When I reached Dallat school…the guys were already walking out…aiya….there I was all equipped to see them play Basket Ball. Boo and his office had a basketball tournament. However his team turned out 4th position. But it’s alright…at least they had some fun. So I headed back home….but stopped by Island Glades to buy tea for my parents. I love that place. There’s so much stuffs to eat there for tea.

Came back home and slept. Was too lazy to go to the gym, AGAIN. Man, I think I better start pushing myself back again to the gym. Took my dogs for a walk and waited for boo to drop by after his dinner.

That's about it...it's back to my hectic weekday again.

Seoul Garden again?

Yeap.....Seoul Graden it is. I have been craving for it since end of October. Finally my crave was satisfied...but however I could have eaten more. Got full so fast. That's not Cheryl who I used to be last time. The dinner was just the three of us. Called my college mate to join us for dinner. Haven’t seen her for ages also. Last time back in college, we used to hang out and during weekedns we'll sure meet up. However things have changed once we all started to work...Introduced the Seoul Garden to her. She liked it. This time they had some really nice marinated fish. One’s marinated with Rosemary…the other had a curry leave flavour…lovely.

After dinner….walked around gurney and snapped some shots with the huge Christmas tree. Isn’t it lovely?

After all the photo snapping we decided to leave Gurney and head to my firends place. We had movie tickets but the movie only starts at 12.20. However with the jam...by the time we reached her place..it was about time to head back to Gurney.

The movie was so so. We watched The Fog. It's some horror show about Ghost coming back to do some revenge on so town people. After the movie...we headed back home to ZZZzzz...

Ribs

Last Sat had a short gathering with the dugongs. It was actually more of a makan together in conjunction of Ahma’s belated birthday. The place was Ribs which is just next to Giant along Burma Road. This time round, we didn’t plan any surprises for Ahma. I guess we have all retired from it already.

Atmosphere in the restaurant was abit cozy. Colour scheme there is more of dull black style. But it did have a lil touch of contemporary style. What everyone liked was the toilet sink…..yea it was a very unusual sink made of a car’s window shield as the sink. Pretty unique.

Food wise…..well since the restaurant was called ribs….so most of us tried the BBQ Pork Ribs. As for me I had the set lunch No. D1 which was the Petit Combo consisting of ½ ribs and ¼ chicken. The first set was Minestrone soup which was good. But a lil bit on the salty side. Then came the main meal. Taste wise….it was so-so. Ribs tasted abit like the ribs in Chasers except Chaser’s had a more intense taste (Oouummpphh). For dessert, they served a grape flavoured jelly which was good. Liked that the most…but it was served in a really tiny cup. How selfish they are!!!!
Did abit of catching up with the gang. I think the last time we all gathered was during Fi’s Bday makan at Pizza Hut. Everyone’s busy with their own things nowadays…so we hardly meet up often. But anyhow it was a good lunch get together.

Wednesday

It's 6.15 pm.....
Yes for once I get to drive back after work seeing the sun....No OT for me today!!!!! Yahoo.....My eyes are really bad now....Black patches below my eyes, just like a panda.

Last night came back home and this was what I saw.

The Christmas tree is Up!!!!!!!!
But I don't really like this years christmas theme in my house. It's a tropical christmas theme done by the Management of the House (my mum)...... :( I like the old fashion type of christmas deco......but she's making it all so tropical. Sigh....Well the deco's still not finish yet. House is still in a mess from the tornado hit. So far I can only see the tree.

The weekend

Friday night…..
Worked until 8 pm. I tell you I’m a real walking zombie whole of last week. My body’s still adjusting to getting up erly and working until 9 pm at night. Non stop for 5 days. Headed for choir practice at pm. Was relieve that work’s over….but had to come back the next morning to finish up my work.

How’s work…well I think I’m stressed out. I’m still struggling with it. At times I feel, why oh why did I take up this position. I’ve still got a lot to learn and currently now…everything’s messy on my side. I get scared sometimes that all my parts having shortages. Am I causing any line down? I hope not. I know there’s some colleagues who are getting abit impatient but hey….what can you say to a two weeks old girl…plus the person whom I’m taking over has left just on my first week. So I’m lost with past history work and blah blah….know the funny thing….every time I talk to boo on the phone I start to tear…but have to control myself. I don’t know why. It’s like I get so stressed that I just want boo here but he can’t be here…so sniff sniff I go. Even when my boss starts talking to me…I get all tensed up and start controlling my tears. I think that’s pure stress. I hope no one there realizes that I’m about to burst out in tears. Hate that feeling when you have to control your tears. In the end your throat gets so pain and you end up having a heavy head…hahahah through experience. So that’s work so far….it’s total kelam kabut-ness for now.

So Sat….woke up at 6.15 am. Boo fetched and dropped me at work Swiped my card at 7 am. So I’ve got until 11 am to finish my work in order to claim for OT. Everything was going well until the very last minute my boss calls me and tells me to do this and that. I look at my watch it’s 10.50 am. I’m leaving in 10 mins time. So fine, rushed and headed out from the office at 11.15 am without finishing my work…..why? cos I have a movie to catch at 12.30 pm…HARRY POTTER it is. Yeap took my Grandma and Dad for the movie and of cos boo also….bough two couple seats. Dad and Grandma was excited. The movie was ok…….didn’t feel that satisfied with it. Don’t know why…..perhaps I wanted more. There was a sad part when someone died. Had to control my tears again…hehehehe. But I guess the show continues as Lord Voltdemore (spelling!) has resurrected!!!!!!!

So after the movie headed back home for some short ZZzzzZZzz. Woke up at 6 and got ready. Was in the mood to dress. Was feeling all energetic cos could finally spend time with my boo. Wore my mini skirt which I couldn't fit in last time. Boy do i love losing weight.

We headed to Francis for dinner. This is what I had.

That's fish wrapped with salami. He had put some minced chicken, peas and tomatoes under the salami coated cheese. Taste was ok. This was served with pumpkin soup which was nice.

Boo on the other hand has his ever favourite Chicken Chop and garlic bread....but after eating it he said....aiya, forgot about his Chicken Shnitzel. But whatever it is...it's always satisfying to eat there for me...but sadly he'll be moving somewhere else end of this month...where he hasn't decided yet.

After dinner Boo brought me to metrojaya to have a look at the Christmas Deco…Wow it was nice for Penang Standard. Manage to take a few outside shots of the Christmas tree. The theme’s purple in colour. The area where they sold all the deco stuffs was nicely decorated. But I would say it did make the place abit cramped up. They had two beutifull chirstmas trees there. One of it is white and the other is gold. Really beautiful.

Tilt your head for this pic.....

After that we headed back to Boo’s place to watch some movie. But halfway through, I slept on the sofa. Was so tired. Poor Boo had to watch the movie while I was sleeping.
