Hai Boey Seafood Restaurant

Hai Boey, Gertak Sanggul somewhere in Teluk Kumbar is not something new for everyone. I am pretty sure all Penangites have heard of this place. Well this was my second time here, 6 months ago. Yea these photos are pretty old already. Place sells wonderful fresh seafood with a number of varieties to choose from.

This was actually a farewell makan for one of my colleagues, so since there were at least 10 of us, we could order a number of variety dishes to try out. So this is what we ordered.

I forgot the name of this dish but it was pork fat cooked in a steawed sauce with a lot of ground nuts. It was good, but rather fattening. Loved the ground nuts though.

Mee Teow which was alright.

Prawn mantis kam heong style. Taste was good but why did they have to chop it into small pieces with the shells still on. Found it rather hard to suck out the flesh.

Steamed fish which came in a claypot. Had a very strong wine smell. Wonderful.

Salted egg crabs. It was good but crabs were not so meaty.

Steamed prawns with egg white and chinese wine. Another wonderful dish. The smell of the wine and taste was good.

Steamed octopus. It was very bouncy indeed. But I took 1 to try. Not really a fan of octopus. It gives me the goose bums seeing the tentacles. **Shivers**

Lala cooked with a lot of garlic and chili padi. Gravy was extremely good.

Balitong??? Not sure of the name for this, but I stayed away from this dish.

Specialty here. Deep fried brinjals stuffed with meat. It's good.

So besides eating here, you can also eat and enjoy the view of the beach or in the evening the sunset. They even have swings hanging down from the tree trunkcs for those who want some swinging before eating.

Nothing to scream about. The food is so-so only. The only setback is the car parking space. So difficult to get in and out.

The place is a bit unhygienic.
