Roti Bakar Along Campbell Street

Ed and I recently have been having this craving for Roti Bakar and half boiled eggs. So one morning, we drove and tried this Roti Bakar place along Campbell Street. Place is called Toh Soon CafĂ©. It’s not exactly a coffee shop but it was a shop made alongside the side lane. Do not let this fool you but this place is really popular in the mornings. A lot of people come here for their hot coffee and toasted bread with the half boiled eggs. You can even find Ah Peks sitting around gossiping and reading their newspaper. We have come here twice already.

What is special here is that the have a variety of breads to choose from. There’s Wholemeal Bread, Sandwich Bread, Low Calories Bread, Chocolate Bread, Hainan Bread and Chocolate Marble Bread. Our favorite is the Hainan Bread, eventhough this is the only bread we have eaten so far. You can choose to have your toasted bread with butter, kaya or sugar.

The coffee here is superb. They have their own coffee, and it is really pekat and strong. After drinking 1 cup “kopi peng” I felt abit like floating in the air. But it good. Gives you that kick! So this has become one of our favourite spots for Roti Bakar. I think this shop opens until late afternoon too. So if you’re not a morning person you can still come during lunch time.

Before I forget, be prepared to pay abit more as it's rather pricey for what we ate.
