Homemade Beef Burger

Thursday made a mess in the kitchen cooking up my very own homemade beef burger. Please note its homemade beef burger patties-not the ready made frozen beef patties which is not good.

So what was prepared, well details below.

Minced Beef
Onions
Garlic
Leek
Nutmeg
Bush Spice
Mixed Spice (contains cloves, cinnamon, star anise)
Worcheshire sauce (Lea and Perrins)
Black Soya (Tauyu)
1 chicken cube
Egg
Cornflour
Balsamic Vinegar
Pepper & salt

First get your onions, garlic and leek chopped and blended to small bits. Please note to wear your super stylo sun specs for this.

Then char it for awhile in a pan to cook it up with some butter and balsamic vinegar (get the fragrance out for the marination).

Prepare a bowl to mix everything up. Place your minced beef in, pour the char-ed onions, garlic and leek, and add in all the above ingredients. Break about 2 eggs in (egg is to keep the meat together), corn flour (to hold the meat and ingredients together). With a clean hand (make sure nails are all clean), mix everything up. It’s up to your own taste the amount of spices you want to add in. Put this beef aside to marinate for awhile.

While waiting on the marination, slice some onions to char separately. This is to put in the burger together with some tomato and cucumber slices. A tip here; its recommended to char the onions with abit of balsamic vinegar and sugar to caramelize the onions. Once its cooked, put aside and return back to your beef.

Prepare your non stick pan with some butter and heat it up. With your hands, shape the beef to a beef like patty shape (round-ish oval shape). Thickness of it is up to you. Then dump it into the hot pan to cook. A tip here: leave the patty to cook in the pan for about 4 minutes before flipping it to the other side. This is to avoid the patty to break-up. Also do not use your ladle to mash or flatten the patty as this would squeeze out your juices.)

Once you have your beef patty cooked, put it aside and it now time to cook your eggs. For each beef patty, break an egg on the pan and spread it as wide as possible on the pan. We will use the egg to wrap the beef patty. Once egg is cooked, place the beef patty in the middle, put a slice of cheese, add some mayonnaise, tomato/chilly sauce, pepper, etc to your taste). Then slowly and carefully fold in the egg to wrap the beef patty.

On your burger bun, place the caramelized onions on the bread (depending how much you like onions). Then some tomatoes, cucumber, mayonnaise, tomato/chilly sauce etc…
Once all your desired ‘decorations’ are done, slowly place the egg wrapped beef patty on top and walla…….you have your Homemade Beef Patty.

The verdict on this from Mum and Ed, Good, fit to serve Queen Elizabeth!
