Dad's B'Day

On the 15th of Oct, my dad celebrated his 53 rd Birthday. Usually when it comes to his birthday he always likes to have home cooked food. Last year we had my mum cook Laksa. This year it was Popiah

This is the pot of sliced sengkuang filled with chinese mushroom, etc, together with pork bones boiled to flavour the dish

On the table, chopped crab stick, chopped eggs, chopped prawns, slices of chicken breast, chopped soya, chopped corriander leaves, chopped fried garlic, chopped fried onions, salad leaves, chilli and black sauce and popiah skin

The fun starts, place the popiah skin on your plate. Rub some black sauce and chilli on the skin. Then place a salad leave in the middle. Then squeeze out the juices from the sengkuang, place in right on top of the salad leave. Garnish it with some crab stick, prawns, egg, soya, fried garlic and onions. If you want a touch of Vietnamese style of popiah, put some Coriander leaves in the popiah.

Once you've put all the goodies on top of the popiah skin, it's time to fold into a tube looking shape. See the popiah on the plate. Slice it into 3-4 pieces (mouth size). Pour some soup from the mengkuang dish and open your mouth wide to start eating.....

See my boo....mouth as wide as he can. He does it the Ed way....eat the popiah like a hot dog (didn't slice it)

All busy eating

Popiah is a good meal to eat. It's not fattening and it's healthy. Why?? It's all vegetable. Everything is boiled. You can eat as much as you like....but mine you, you can get full fast. It's nice to eat it with your family as you will be chit chatting on the table while making your popiah. Like what happened, we all ended up making fun of each others popiah shape. But the expert was my dad. Popiah shape was perfect.

Here comes the cake. Home made buy my mum. It's Yogurt Cheese cake with Apricot toppings. Ran out of candles so my dad was only 3 yrs old.

Dad's making his wish before he blows his cake.

Cutting the cake.....Look at the presents behind the cake.

Finally bought my dad two Valentino T shirts. Boo on the other hand bought a Adidas T shirt too. So looks like my dad has enough t shirts to last him for the whole year!
